Ms. Louiza "Shay" DeMar Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Proverbs 3:5-6 Louiza Ree La Shay DeMar was one of the strongest persons on earth. She was born on February 18, 1984 weighing at seven pounds; the second of six children. Shay, as she was so fondly called, departed this life into a peaceful rest on November 10, 2011. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lillie Mae Freeney and Virgil DeMar; great grandparents, Freddie Henson Perkins and Ben Perkins; and her uncle, Charles Collins. Shay received her formal education through East Carroll Parish Schools earning a Certificate of Achievement on May 15, 2005. Through the years, she was able to continuously show love and life to all that came into contact with her. Because of her bright eyes and beautiful smile, she gained nicknames like, "Coota", "Coota Rabbit". "Lady Bug," and "Ms. De Mar". Coota shared many blessed years with her grandmother, Willie Mildred Collins who tenderly and graciously cared for her with unconditional love. She was a special Angel on Earth. Left to cherish her memories are: her parents Evelyn and Michael Kelly and Ralph DeMar; two sisters, Revah and Rosie; four brothers, Michael, Virgil, Isaiah and Phillip; grandmother, Grace Kelly Mitchell; eleven aunts, Rosie, Louiza, Carrie, Arlean, Patricia Bailey (South Highland, Ill.)Beverly Thompson (Conway, Ark) Brenda Williams (Robert) of Chicago, Ill., Teresa Wiggins (Monroe, La.) Wanda Jackson (Nashville, Tenn.), Kerri Wiggins (Winston Salem, North Carolina) and Debbie Wright (Warren, Ohio); seven uncles, Monroe, William, Kenneth DeMar (Chicago, Ill.)James Freeney (Diana) of Gary Indiana, Gerald DeMar (Rosalind) of Dolton, Ill., Joseph Kelly (Gwin) of Clanton, Ala. and Robert Wiggins (Angela) of Louisville, Ky; two great aunts, Pauline and Arlean, a niece, Mikala, a nephew, Nehemiah, caregivers and a host of cousins. Services held, Saturday, November 19,10:30 am, First Baptist Church, 615 Sparrow Street, Lake Providence, LA; Visitation 1-7 pm, Friday, November 18, Brannum Funeral Home Chapel, 503 Sparrow Street, Lake Providence, LA; Interment Jones Cemetery Pioneer,LA
